What It Means To Be A Mother

I often get asked what it is like to be a mom. To fully understand what it’s like to be a mom, you just have to be one. You cannot understand what it’s like until you have been up all night with a screaming baby or until you have had to clean barf off of your favorite shirt, not once, not twice… well, you get the idea. And if you’re a mom, you fully understand what I’m talking about. When I got pregnant with my first, someone once told me that I would love bath time: she said “it is the absolute best,” if I recall… “Their soft skin and big eyes looking up at you, and when you take them out of the bath and wrap them up in a soft warm towel, you cradle them and listen to the soft adorable coos.”

Remembering all of this and what she had said, I thought I would try to make the most of this moment with my daughter. So I scooped her out of the bath and wrapped her up in a soft towel made to look like a duck, a frog or some other wetland creature. I can’t really remember the towel, but there we sat the two of us, staring at each other like we were the only two people in the world and it was magical… until she pooped on me. This is what it means to be a mother.

Hey everyone! So we are getting close to moving day and I have had to pack up my craft room in preparation so I haven’t been able to do as many DIYs as I would like to, but this past weekend, I had to get in a little bit of DIY and I wanted to do something quick and easy.

These dollar store terra cotta pots turned chic farmhouse decor are just what I needed to get my fix. They were quick and easy to make and I didn’t need a lot of stuff.

Watch this quick video and then follow the steps to make your own!

I used Country Chic Paint in Lazy Linen to paint my pots and then followed up with their Grey Wax. This paint really gave these terra cotta pots the farmhouse style look and I can’t wait to put these on display in the new house!

11 more days til’ we move!!!

Let me know what you think about project and if you make these feel free to share your pics with me!

We’re Moving!!!

Well some of you may have noticed that I have been a little bit absent lately and for this, I do apologize, but it is for very good reason. My husband and I have just purchased our first home! We are over the moon excited and cannot wait to get into our first home! We have been renters for far too long! I cannot wait to put my own touch and look on this house and time is going so slow that I am afraid it maybe going backward.

We are 30 days away now, though! desktop34In preparation for our move, I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest and I am really into the whole farmhouse decor look. I thought I would take this opportunity, as my craft room is being packed away to share with you all some of my favorite DIYs from other talented bloggers. These are some of the DIYs that I hope in incorporate in our new home. I hope to one day look back on this list and see just how many of these I did do.

The first thing I hope to change is the front door. Right now it is that builder basic door. My favorite style of door is a craftsmen style. Something like this….

These doors are quite costly so this may be something that might not happen right away. Unless of course, I can score one second hand from the ReStore or something.

Another dream is a gable timber wood arch over my front door. The timber entrance is a must have!:

Again, something that may not happen right away.

Let’s move on to the entryway.

I don’t have a lot of space so I am thinking of doing a small slender farmhouse style table. I love these pictures and are going to use them for inspiration. entryway.PNGimage via: @homedecormomma

@greyjuniper sure does love #wooddecor, and our Natural Sadie Arch Mirror…:

One of the things that attracted us most to this house was the kitchen. It is all brand new, so there won’t be much that we have to do. However, there isn’t much space for a table. I found this really neat idea on Pinterest from Sawdust 2 Stitches and I love it! A great alternative for people that don’t have a large dining area.

Another DIY that I really and I mean really want to do is a scallop accent wall in my daughter’s bedroom. I saw this one on Fixer Upper and fell in love!! Any Fixer Upper fans, here? Chip and Joanna are my favorite! Take a look at this gorgeous accent wall that Chip did. image via Magnolia Market

I am going to leave it at this for today, because I could go on and on, but feel free to share your favorite projects and DIYs with me! I hope you will come back and subscribe so that you don’t miss out on all the changes we will be making to our home. I can’t wait to share this process with you all!

Til’ next time!
